First published in 2017, the award-winning Step-by-Step Guide to Estimating Homelessness in Rural Communities is a cost-conscious, cost-efficient, and reliable method for rural communities looking to obtain and/or improve local data on homelessness and service needs within the community across Canada.
Initially funded through an Innovation microgrant from Employment and Social Development Canada, the guide has now been updated and refined to reflect learnings and findings from two years' worth of community-based trial and implementation efforts.
The second edition of the Guide is funded through the Government of Canada's Homelessness Partnering Strategy: Innovative Solutions to Homelessness and is applicable in rural and remote communities across Canada.
