Rural Development Network Celebrates National Housing Day

Every year on November 22nd, communities across the country come together to celebrate “National Housing Day”- a day to raise awareness about the critical need and importance of affordable housing to all Canadians.

At the Rural Development Network (RDN), we strive to make every single day—national housing day. Especially for Canada’s rural and remote communities.

A big hurdle for new groups seeking to develop affordable housing is that experts within the industry keep a tight hold on critical knowledge, often charging fees that are out of reach for many smaller organizations.

At RDN, we strive to bring the necessary tools, resources, and expertise needed to bring affordable homes into smaller communities by reducing these hurdles. By compiling the expert knowledge of architects, funders, operators and more, we created a Step-by-Step Guide to Developing Affordable Housing that is free and available to all Canadians in both official languages.

In celebration of National Housing Day, and RDN’s expansion across Canada, we are launching two Calls for Expressions of Interest to support rural and remote communities looking to develop affordable housing in Quebec and Newfoundland & Labrador.

Please click here to access the Quebec - Call for Expression of Interest.

Please click here to access the Newfoundland & Labrador - Call for Expression of Interest.

Both calls for Expressions of Interest will remain open until 15th January 2021.

Today, communities can benefit from the investments of the National Housing Strategy, the federal government’s commitment to the right to housing. Navigating funding and supports can be daunting for groups looking to take that initial step. Please feel free to connect with us at info@ruraldevelopment.ca if you require support.
