Do you want to develop affordable housing in your community but don’t know where to start? Or do you have an existing project that has stalled? Then this workshop is for you! Whether it’s transitional, supportive, standard affordable housing or the rest - this workshop is designed specifically to guide and inform communities and small organizations that want to get a project off the ground.
In 2019, the Sustainable Housing Initiative (SHI) collaborated with industry experts from across the country to develop the comprehensive Step-By-Step Guide to Developing Affordable Housing - Please click here to access the guide. This Guide takes users from the day you envision an affordable housing development to its operations and maintenance. Using the resources from the guide, this workshop will equip you to complete the pre-development work required to develop an affordable housing project, including:
Participants will be given time to start developing some of the above-mentioned documents and will leave with a preliminary business case and a financial model. These documents can then be further developed and used for discussions with stakeholders and funders.
We are hosting seven virtual workshops in 2021 with each workshop focusing on a specific region in Canada. Attendees are welcome to register for any of the workshops even if it’s outside of their region, however, please keep in mind that if you are attending a workshop outside of your region some information may not be relevant for your local projects. However, most of the information discussed will be relevant regardless of your location in Canada.
We look forward to having you join us!
