Temporary Data Entry Assistant

Reporting to the Project Manager, Community Development & Homelessness Estimations, the Temporary Data Entry Assistant works to accurately and efficiently capture survey data from paper and digital sources onto a database. This position will require strong attention to detail, and an ability to organize large datasets, as well as the ability to follow procedures regarding the safe handling of personal information.



  • Wage = $15/hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation time
  • Temporary position, part-time to full-time; flexible hours; work from home, but must be able to occasionally go to the RDN office in Edmonton to pick up/ drop off work
  • Minimum 15 hours per week, but preference will be given to people able to work more
  • Position will start early-May, and continue until approximately mid-June 
  • Project 1 timeline: Data entry assistants receive surveys on May 11th; entry must be completed by May 25th 
  • Project 2 timeline: Data entry assistants receive surveys on May 11th; entry must be completed by May 25th 
  • Project 3 timeline: Data entry assistants receive surveys on May 25th; entry must be completed by June 8th

  • Must have own computer equipment and internet access
  • We will likely be hiring 5-10 people for this work.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and sorting documents for data entry
  • Entering raw data into provided excel spreadsheet template and checking to ensure the accuracy of the data that has been inputted
  • Resolving discrepancies in information and obtaining further information for incomplete documents from the Project Manager
  • Responding to information requests from authorized members
  • Following established data entry procedures
  • Providing regular updates to the Project Manager on status of data entry and any issues encountered, including attempted solutions
  • Assisting with other related tasks as required
  • Successful applicants will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement


  • Data entry work experience
  • Experience with Survey Monkey is an asset
  • Detail oriented with strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Organizational skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and G Suite applications, conferencing software, and productivity software
  • Understanding of research methods, including statistics
  • Undergraduate Degree or currently enrolled in University or College
  • Computer training, research methodology and/or statistical training, is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
